    Hi,

I just found this forum and am looking for information on buying a first MIG welder.

Basically I'll be using the MIG at home for small projects I have at the moment Builing a Motor Bike trailer and some Car Restoration stuff.

I was a panelbeating apprentice many years ago so did have the basics of MIG welding but that was a long time ago.

I've been doing some research and I would like to budget aroun 700-1300 max

I've only ever used gas MIG are the gassless machines  any good ?
I found this one online http://www.machines4u.com.au/view/advert/Lincoln-Electric-Power-Mig-180c-Mig-Welder-1045/20309/

and thik it should be fine for what I want to do.

    Any help would be great.

    Cheers Nik

    Hi Nik,

    Welcome to the forum.

For what you want to use a MIG for, this welder will be fine. Lincoln machines widely used in industrial environments, and are a top, well known brand. Only thing I will add, is to make sure it will accept a 15kg wire spool. Those small rolls don’t last as long, and it works out cheaper buying the larger spools.

    Regards,

Thanks for the advice I’ll check on the lager spools today.

    Cheers Nik
